Siraj and Buttler Shines as Gujrat Titans Beats RCB at their Home Ground by 8 wickets.....
Gujarat Titans Humiliate RCB at Chinnaswamy: Siraj & Buttler Steals the Show…..
The M.
Chinnaswamy Stadium witnessed a brutal display of power-hitting as Gujarat
Titans handed Royal Challengers Bangalore a crushing 8-wicket defeat in what
turned out to be a completely one-sided IPL 2025 encounter. The match, which
promised an exciting contest between bat and ball, quickly turned into the Jos
Buttler show as the English superstar dismantled RCB's bowling attack with
surgical precision.
First
Innings: RCB's Batting Collapse Under Pressure
Opting to
bat first after losing the toss, RCB's innings never really gained momentum.
The home team got off to a disastrous start when their talismanic opener Virat
Kohli (7 off 6 balls) fell cheaply in just the second over, caught at long leg
off the bowling of Arshad Khan. The early dismissal set the tone for what would
become a frustrating batting performance.
Phil Salt
(14 off 12) and Devdutt Padikkal (4 off 7) failed to capitalize on their
starts, both falling to the impressive Mohammed Siraj who was bowling with fire
and accuracy. Captain Rajat Patidar's brief stay at the crease (12 off 10)
ended when he was trapped LBW by veteran Ishant Sharma, leaving RCB reeling at
42/4 in the 7th over.
The middle-order rescue operation was led by Liam Livingstone, who played a lone hand with a gritty 54 off 40 balls. The English all-rounder showed his class by hitting five towering sixes, particularly targeting Rashid Khan's spin. He found able support from Jitesh Sharma (33 off 21), with whom he added 52 crucial runs for the fifth wicket
.
Just when it
seemed RCB might post a competitive total, Livingstone's dismissal in the 17th
over triggered another mini-collapse. Tim David's late cameo (32 off 18 balls,
including 3 fours and 2 sixes) helped push the total to 169/8, but it always
looked at least 20 runs short on the batting-friendly Chinnaswamy surface.
GT's
Bowling Masterclass
Gujarat's
bowling unit delivered a clinical performance. Mohammed Siraj was the pick of
the bowlers with 3/19 in his four overs, including the crucial wickets of Salt
and Padikkal. Sai Kishore chipped in with 2 wickets, while the experienced trio
of Arshad Khan, Prasidh Krishna and Ishant Sharma claimed one scalp each.
Rashid Khan, though wicketless, maintained excellent control with an economy
rate of just 6.75 in his four overs.
Second
Innings: The Jos Buttler Show
Chasing 170,
GT suffered an early setback when captain Shubman Gill (14 off 11) edged
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Livingstone in the third over. However, what followed was
pure carnage as Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan combined for a match-winning
75-run partnership.
Buttler, in
particular, was in devastating form. The English wicketkeeper-batsman reached
his fifty in just 31 balls and remained unbeaten on 73 off 39 deliveries, an
innings that included 5 fours and 6 massive sixes. His ability to find gaps and
clear boundaries at will left the RCB bowlers clueless.
Sai
Sudharsan played the perfect supporting role with a well-compiled 49 off 36
balls before falling to Josh Hazlewood in the 13th over. Sherfane Rutherford
(30* off 18) then joined Buttler to finish the job, hitting the winning six off
Karn Sharma in the 18th over with 13 balls to spare.
Turning
Points of the Match
1.
Kohli's early dismissal: The crowd favorite's cheap exit put RCB
on the backfoot immediately.
2.
Livingstone's lone fight: His 54 was the only substantial
contribution in RCB's innings.
3.
Buttler's assault: The Englishman's dominance made the chase
look ridiculously easy.
4.
Siraj's spell: His 3-wicket haul kept GT in control throughout
RCB's innings.
Post-Match
Analysis
This victory
marked GT's second win in three matches, cementing their position in the top
half of the table. For RCB, it was their first loss of the season, exposing
some serious concerns about their middle-order fragility and bowling depth.
Jos Buttler
was deservedly named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock. When
asked about his innings, Buttler said, "I just tried to play my natural
game. The wicket was good for batting and I wanted to be positive from the
start. Sai played beautifully at the other end which took the pressure off
me."
RCB captain
Rajat Patidar admitted his team was outplayed in all departments: "We were
20-25 runs short with the bat, and then couldn't contain Buttler. Need to go
back to the drawing board and come back stronger."
Final Scorecard:
RCB: 169/8 in 20 overs (Livingstone 54, David 32; Siraj 3/19)
GT: 170/2 in 17.5 overs (Buttler 73*, Sudharsan 49; Bhuvneshwar 1/25)
Result: Gujarat Titans won by 8 wickets (with 13 balls remaining)
Player of the Match: Mohammed Siraj
